Cities #9 – Luxembourg City (Giordano Bruno / Versus You)


Es ist sicherlich keine Neuigkeit, dass Flix Records zu unseren Lieblings-Labels zählt. Dass man in den Büroräumen ein gutes Händchen für neue Veröffentlichungen hat, ist ebenfalls bekannt. Eine der neusten Streiche ist die neue LP von Versus You. Mit „Moving On“ zeigt die Band, dass man Pop-Punk nicht neu erfinden muss um eine Platte aufzunehmen, die richtig Spaß macht. In bester Tradition diverser Fat Wreck-Bands machen die Luxemburger melodischen Krach, der sich bestens zum Skaten, Trinken und Tanzen eignet. Das ist für uns eigentlich auch schon Grund genug um Versus You für unsere Cities-Reihe zu befragen und mit Luxembourg City gleich mal die erste europäische Stadt vorzustellen. Stellvertretend für die vierköpfige Band nimmt Bassist Giordano Bruno in wundervoll rotzig kurzen Statements den Wohnort der Band auseinander.

I was born here.

What should everyone know about Luxembourg City?
It’s tiny but has a very busy music scene. Writers and filmmakers too.

Is there a thing that totally annoys you about the city?
Most people seem to be stressed all the time but I guess that happens in every city.

What is the greatest thing about living in Luxembourg City?
The many languages. I find them all very beautiful. 

How does the city reflect itself in your music? Does it influence you in any way?
My songwriting is highly inspired by city life. No matter what city I’m in.

Whats your favourite venue to play in Luxembourg City?
Den Atelier.

What’s your favourite place in the city?
I don’t have a favorite place although I enjoy bus rides very much. And walks.

Do you have a favourite song or movie about Luxembourg City?
I wrote many songs about Luxembourg City but the city is never the main character because I’m not in love with Luxembourg City. I’m in love with cities in general.

If you would not live in Luxembourg City, which city would be your favourite to live in? Why?
Somewhere in England. I’ve been there quite a few times and loved it.

What would be a perfect slogan for Luxembourg City?
“Get anywhere in about 20 minutes!”
